Onkyo Unveils Brilliant Colibrino CD Mini Systems with NFC and Bluetooth

September 3, 2014

OSAKA, JAPAN. Touch any compatible mobile device on the new Onkyo CS-265 and CS-265DAB Colibrino CD Hi-Fi Mini Systems and be connected to a universe of music courtesy of NFC (Near Field Communication). The technology performs Bluetooth pairing automatically without excessive smartphone menu navigation or password entry, and makes streaming virtually any mobile audio source easy. Naturally, users of non-NFC-compatible mobiles and PCs can pair their CS-265/CS-265DAB and stream wirelessly via Bluetooth in moments.

The Japanese audio specialists have significantly improved sound quality on the popular Colibrino line starting with a 25 percent power increase to 20 W per channel (6 ohms, two channels driven, IEC). A full digital processing system and efficient digital amplifier have further enhanced signal-to-noise performance, reduced Total Harmonic Distortion + Noise, and opened the frequency response compared to previous models in the series. Paired with the solidly made and elegantly sculpted 2-Way bookshelf speakers—each containing a 10 cm cone woofer and 2.0 cm balanced-dome tweeter—these carefully tuned Colibrino systems deliver full, energetic, and detailed sound that belies their compact dimensions.

In keeping with Onkyo’s desire to make its products functional and easy to use, the CS-265/CS-265DAB features a USB charging connection for both Lightning and legacy 32-pin iOS mobiles (which enables track selection via system remote or the connected device) and an FM tuner with 30 presets and battery-free memory backup function. The systems also support MP3 playback via USB flash drives and handle both MP3- and WAV-encoded CD-R/RW.

The CS-265DAB, meanwhile, adds a DAB+ tuner with 40-preset memory to bolster an extensive selection of media input sources.

Unlike some mini systems, the CS-265/CS-265DAB has quality tone control circuits for bass/treble and a 2-Mode Super Bass function that lets users shape the sound to personal taste. There are also three handy playback modes for CD and two repeat modes, a 3.5 mm analog input for media players, and a front-panel jack for headphones.

Bright and fresh colors including canary yellow, cherry red, arctic white, light blue, and traditional black accentuate the CS-265’s clean lines, while the CS-265DAB is offered in décor-friendly white.

Perfect for filling smaller spaces with rich, dynamic, well-separated stereo sound, the beautiful Colibrino series again demonstrates Onkyo’s commitment to delivering pure audio performance, convenience, and usability at every price-point.
