Onkyo announces that the DS-A1’s compatibility with the iPod range has extended to include the new 5^th generation 30/60 GB iPods. Via the DS-A1’s remote controller, users can operate the following music playback functions on their 5^th generation iPod: Play, Stop, Pause, Next Song, and Previous Song. In addition, the following operations are available: Shuffle, Repeat, Playlist Up/Down, Album Up/Down, Auto Power On, Standby and Backlight.

A 5^th generation iPod connected to the DS-A1 can play back the audio content of a video file in the iPod’s music mode (for example, the audio track of a music video). But users should note that video playback is not possible in music mode. In order to play back video files, it is necessary to use the iPod’s video mode.

In video mode, functions cannot be selected via remote control. Instead, users are required to operate the touch wheel control on the iPod itself. To play back video using the iPod and DS-A1, the S-video output on the DS-A1 should be connected to an appropriate display. Please refer to the iPod manual for the correct video playback settings.

Users are advised to select the appropriate adaptor when connecting their iPod to the DS-A1.
