DVD Player

I am unable to play discs in the DTS mode.

Why do some DVD movie discs pause at one point during the movie?

I am unable to play discs in the DTS mode.

Digital Theater System "DTS" requires the following components in order to decode DTS sound: 1. A DVD player with DTS "Digital out"; 2. A Receiver that has a built in DTS processor; 3. A DTS-encoded DVD disc. If you have the proper equipment but still hear no sound, check that the proper digital output format of the DVD player is selected (see the owner's manual). Also check that the proper digital input is configured and assigned on the receiver, and that the proper connections are made.

Why do some DVD movie discs pause at one point during the movie?

This issue can occur because some movie discs consist of two layers, and the second layer's access specification may be different from the first layer's. For instance, a layer may be read from the inside of the disc to the outside or vice versa. If this reading order changes between one layer and the other, it can generate a pause of a second or more, which is normal. This varies from disc to disc.
