Onkyo Remote for Android* operates wirelessly over the home network and offers a range of remote control functions to more easily manage your network-capable Onkyo home theater and hi-fi systems. In addition, the app enables wireless audio streaming from handset, online music service, NAS, and personal computer. The user can control playback across multiple zones as well as adjust most system settings from almost anywhere in the home. Furthermore, the application is compatible with Onkyo’s RI system, allowing control of multiple components within a system.
The Remote for Android’s graphical user interface (GUI) makes it extremely easy and intuitive to operate. Use simple menus to choose an input source and one of four different listening modes, including music, movies, or games. It’s also easy to make a full range of tone and speaker adjustments.
Onkyo Remote for Android provides a simple way for you to control how your compatible Onkyo network A/V receiver or hi-fi product connects to the home network, as well as online audio services such as Spotify. A simple menu within the app enables access to a variety of internet radio and music streaming services. You can browse playlists, search for specific albums and tracks, or select an internet radio station all from your handset, sending content to the home theater or audio system with a few taps on the touchscreen. Using the same menu, you can locate and stream your own digital music—including FLAC and Apple Lossless formats—from PC or NAS using the DLNA or Home Media functions.*
*Feature available on after 2012 year-model network A/V receivers and hi-fi products
Connecting wirelessly to your home network, the Onkyo Remote for Android allows you to stream audio files stored on your Android-powered phone direct to your compatible Onkyo network A/V receiver or hi-fi system. Now you can hear the music files stored on your handset with unbelievably good sound.
Using the Remote for Android, you can control output in separate zones in a multi-room distributed audio set-up. The app lets you choose the playback source for up to three zones, depending on your A/V receiver’s capabilities.
Selecting the setup menu feature on your Android-powered phone makes the A/V receiver’s main menu page appear overlaid on your home theater display. You can then access a variety of menus that let you adjust settings on your connected Onkyo receiver.
*Available only with after 2011 network A/V receivers.
